Content description

Head covering of white cotton velvet with satin stitch, long and short stitch, and stem stitch floral embroidery featuring Edelweiss and other colourful meadow flowers connected by a long branch with pine needles and small red berries. The head covering is shaped with a centre seam running width-wise and two darts. It is lined with a white felted fabric and machine topstitched around the outside edge. On either end is a metal eyelet through which is threaded a white plied tie. It is likely Swiss and possibly associated with regional traditional dress, and was made in the second half of the twentieth century.
