Scope and content
This intriguing drawing may be by the jewellery, stationer and consumer goods brand J C Vickery, which was run by John Collier Vickery from 1891 to 1930 and had premises on Regent Street as well as royal warrants. The Wyvern (a two legged winged dragon) sits atop a twisted bar with a screw like object beneath. Silver novelties and finals on decorative stationary items were amongst the products sold by JC Vickery. The existence of this signed design within the Royal School of Art Needlework (later the Royal School of Needlework) archive may have been for inspiration, or part of a collaboratiation.
